Zombies, RUN!
Today’s comic is about one of my favorite new games, “Zombies, RUN!“. If you haven’t heard of it, you should go read up on it, especially if you’re looking to get up and get moving to shed a few pounds or just to stay healthy, now you can do that while evading zombies! I can’t talk this game up enough, it’s awesome for someone like me who likes to run but lacks motivation. Every time I’ve gone running in the past I ended up looking at my pedometer every two minutes and made excuses as to why I should cut my run short that day. BUT NO MORE! This game mixes an awesome Zompocalypse story line into your music while you run (which is very VERY well voice-acted) and during your songs there is a chance you’ll encounter a zombie mob that you then have to increase your pace for a full minute to evade.
Now personally, I get really into this game and listen closly to the story and try to imagine myself in this world, so when I get chased my zombies, or one of the radio voices tells me to run, I FUCKING RUN. I also always run at night and this is for two reasons… One, it adds to the spookiness of the game when it’s dark and there aren’t many people around. Two, I probably look like a moron when I’m clumsily sprinting around trying to avoid zombie mobs so the less viability other people have of me, the better (don’t worry I always run on a set route with no car traffic).
This comic is the result of me thinking about what I’d look like if I were to play the game in broad daylight where everyone can see me flailing around like a doofus. Enjoy

I can totally relate to this. I ran wildly across a junction without looking both ways, just to evade the hoard!!
Amazing game!!!

I know right? I started planning my routes around large city blocks so I wouldn’t have to cross traffic at anytime, just in case

I cannot believe I’m saying this, but I now want a *cellphone*.
So much for being one of the ol’ “Stainless Steel Rat” ‘off the grid’ holdouts…

great comic, love the different style you did of yourself in the last panel, and didn’t you bring this app up before in an older comic ?

I did! I mentioned it in “Dance Dance,… Aw, screw it” I wrote that comic right after receiving the email notifying me of the release date for Zombies, RUN!

Best comic yet! Even better than the Star Wars dance one.

This game sounds amazing! I wonder how it will work with my dog… (I run with my dog) When the zombie mob decides to come at you and your dog just has to stop to sniff or pee.

you don’t die, if the zombies catch up to you, you drop your supplies to distract them… I think. I haven’t been caught yet so I’m not sure

This is a little late to mention perhaps, but you know that you can turn off the zombies chase mode? I injured myself early on in the game and this is the first time I got back into it, but my plan was to ease into the world of running (typically I hate running!) before doing the interval stuff.
Cheers, I love the comic.

You know, you could play it on your treadmill, that would be fun and healthy, i think someone finally figured out a good exercise-game combo.

right now the zombie chases only work on GPS, they are working on a mode that works with the accelerometer but as far as I know, it’s not out yet so you can’t be chased on a treadmill quite yet… perhaps it will be out with the andriod version?

In this world our love is hate, or smiles in the end bmocee fake, we walk astray from the magnificent path, but come let us be truthful with our mind & heart even though their at war, don’t let your soul be trampled on, don’t let your pride ruin your blind eyes, so come wit me to a dimension unknown to your reality, be free from troubles, give thanks for the pain, heartache, the joy, the happiness, its all apart of whats makes you you, even tho you is lost, but thats how you’ll find who you truely are .the future is nothing but a different version of your past, & the present is only the story-line that leads to your rise or fall -This is my favorite quote because it basically describes the world as it is, twisted and opposite of itself, just lost & blind filled with mixed emotions, not knowing what it wants & where it wants to go. But at the same time it describes the life of people & their inner self. Its a quote that perfectly points out things people try to hide about their life and how hard it is but also tells them be thankful for the pain because it’ll help you find a greater joy..maybe..maybe not.[]

Wow, I have never heard of this, but it sounds like a barrel of crazy awesome! I love audioplays in general. I’m more of a biker and swimmer, but have been considering a triathlon. Maybe this will prepare me for that? At the very least, I’d be more likely to survive the upcoming zombie apocalypse.

Downloaded “Zombies, Run!” yesterday and tried it out on my stationary bike. (It is possible to use the accelerometer and stick it in your pocket or an armband.) I had so much fun – thanks for making me aware of the game!

Been slowly but surely progressing through this game. I have the motivation, but I won’t lie, some of those zombie chases wear me the hell out. Not to mention, when you get one at the beginning of your run, and then your 4 miles in, huffin’ and puffin’ and Sam’s all “Yeah..Runner 5…Um..Well…I hate to..Well..There are..Zombies. Lots of them…” And you swear running down the street “Damnit Sam!”…Good times.

if you change it to the pedometer mode the chases are not as long, but I find they’re more frequent. I switch between that and GPS mode depending on how energetic I feel. Just finished all the new missions and it leaves on another HUGE cliffhanger, can’t wait for more!
